Beijing, November 23rd—Appointed by the CPC Central Committee, Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), briefed the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) on the spirit of the sixth plenary session of 19th CPC Central Committee via video link. Jorge Luis Broche Lorenzo, Special Envoy of First Secretary of the PCC Central Committee, and Member of the Secretariat of the PCC Central Committee and Head of the Department of Attention to the Social Sector of the PCC Central Committee, attended the meeting.

At first, Song conveyed General Secretary Xi Jinping’s warm greetings toMiguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the PCC Central Committee. Song said, the sixth plenary session, which was held at a critical juncture in history, carries great historical significance. At the session, the CPC Central Committee considered and adopted the Resolution on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century and comprehensively summarized the major achievements and historical experience of the CPC over the past 100 years. The CPC Central Committee mainly reviewed the original ideas, transformative practices, new breakthroughs, and landmark accomplishments since the 18th CPC National Congress. The fundamental reason of the historic achievements and transformation of the causes of the CPC and the country since the 18th CPC National Congress is the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core and the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The Party has established Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defined the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. This is of decisive significance for advancing the cause of the Party and the country in the new era and for driving forward the historic process of national rejuvenation. The CPC has all along maintained a global vision, and has correctly understood and handled China’s relations with the rest of the world in the context of the general trend of human development, the changes in the world’s landscape, and the entire course of Chinese history. The CPC stands ready to work with the Cuban side and other countries to keep the wheels of history rolling toward a brighter future.

Song noted, briefing major affairs of the two Parties and the two countries is a way to implement important consensus of the top leaders of the CPC and the PCC. Our two Parties have always promoted exchanges and mutual learning in terms of the laws of the construction of socialism and relevant theories and practices. This helps bolster party building of both Parties, particularly the governance capacity of both Parties, and plays an important leading role in the substantial advances in socialism movement in the world. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. And in this year, the Eighth PCC Congress was held. Standing at a new starting point in history, China stands ready to work together with Cuba to fully implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two countries and continue deepening exchanges and mutual trust. China has firmly supported Cuba in exploring a development path that conforms to its national conditions and supported Cuba’s just struggles of safeguarding national sovereignty and opposing power politics and interference. China hopes that the two sides will strengthen cooperation in all fields, uphold international fairness and justice, promote China-Cuba relations in the new era to new heights and bring more benefits to the two peoples.

Xie Chuntao, Vice President of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting and introduced the resolution to the Cuban side. He said that the most important outcome of the session is the adoption of the Resolution on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century. The resolution focuses on the Party’s major achievements and historical experience over the past century, mainly reviews the historic achievements and transformation and new experience in the causes of the Party and the country, and highlights the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. This is a guiding document of Marxism.

Broche conveyed the best wishes of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the PCC Central Committee to General Secretary Xi Jinping, warmly congratulated on the success of the sixth plenary session and thanked the CPC for the briefing. He spoke highly of the major achievements and valuable experience of the CPC over the past century, especially the major achievements and valuable experience made since the 18th CPC National Congress under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. He sincerely admired the Chinese people’s historic achievements under the leadership of the CPC, such as eliminating absolute poverty, combating COVID-19, and building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. Broche introduced the just-concluded the second plenary session of the 8th PCC Central Committee, and emphasized that the Cuban side has always been taking relations with China and the CPC as a diplomatic priority. He hoped that the two Parties and the two countries will take the consensus of the top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries as guidance, strengthen strategic mutual trust, deepen experience exchange in state governance and party building, firmly support each other on issues regarding core interests, strengthen coordination and cooperation on international affairs and push Cuba-China relations and socialist modernization for new progress.

Shen Beili, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, presided over the meeting. Ma Hui, Chinese Ambassador to Cuba, Carlos Miguel Pereira, Cuban Ambassador to China, Juan Carlos Marsan Aguilera, Deputy Head of the International Relations Department of the PCC Central Committee and Jorge Hurtado Pérez, Vice Rector of Nico Lopez High-Level Party School of the PCC Central Committee, were present.
