Namibian President and SWAPO President Meets with Song Tao

Beijing, March 30th-- Hage Geingob, Namibian President and President of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO), who was in China for a state visit met here today on the afternoon with Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

Geingob expressed that the SWAPO of Namibia has maintained long-term friendly cooperative relations with the CPC, always remembered the CPC’s precious support for the SWAPO in Namibia’s national independence struggle and sincerely admired the CPC, as a major and time-tested party, for its continuous self-renovation and leading China to achieve brilliant achievements in keeping pace with the times. The SWAPO hopes to learn from the CPC’s experience on party ruling and governance, so as to promote relations between both parties and the two countries to continue to move forward together in the new era.

Song thanked for Geingob’s high importance to and positive comments on the CPC-SWAPO relations, and expressed that President Xi Jinping and President Geingob agreed to establish China-Namibia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, which has drawn up the blueprint for China-Namibia relations in the new era, and also charted the course for the relationship between ruling parties of both countries. The CPC is willing to make joint efforts with the SWAPO to well implement the important consensus reached by leaders of both parties and both countries, in a bid to elevate communication and cooperation between the CPC and the SWAPO to a new level.

Xu Lyuping, Vice-minister of the IDCPC and H.E. Zhang Yiming, Chinese Ambassador to Namibia attended the meeting.
