On March 23rd—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met in Singapore with Vivian Balakrishnan, Foreign Minister of Singapore.
Song said that under the guidance of the common concern of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, China-Singapore relations have kept pace with the times and become increasingly deepened. Strengthening communication and cooperation between China and Singapore is of great significance to safeguarding the common interests of both sides and promoting regional stability and development. China values Singapore's important role in international and regional affairs. The CPC stands ready to work together with the People's Action Party (PAP) of Singapore, through the channels of inter-party exchanges, earnestly implement the important consensus of the leaders of the two countries, enhance high-level exchanges and strategic communication, deepen pragmatic cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and make positive contributions of inter-party relations to the comprehensive and in-depth development of China-Singapore relations, and to safeguarding regional peace and stability.
Vivian said that the current Singapore-China relations and cooperation have made substantial progress. Singapore sees China's development as an opportunity for itself and the region, supports and will continue to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, strengthen coordination and cooperation with China in international and regional affairs, push for new progress in relations between the ruling parties of the two countries and state-to-state relations, and jointly maintain and promote regional stability and prosperity.
The two sides also had an extensive and in-depth exchange of views on China-ASEAN relations, regional cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and other topics of common interest.
