Beijing, November 4th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a delegation of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) headed by Gennady Zyuganov, Chairman of the CPRF Central Committee.

Song welcomed Zyuganov to lead a delegation to China and appreciated the long-term positive contributions made by the CPRF to promoting the friendly cooperation between the two Parties and the two countries. Song said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Russia. General Secretary Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin jointly announced the development of China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era, bringing bilateral relations to a new stage of development. The CPC attaches great importance to the traditional friendly relations with the CPRF, hopes to take the renewal of  the MOU between the CPC and the CPRF as an opportunity to further implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen exchanges at the level of both Parties, enhance mutual understanding and political mutual trust, promote bilateral cooperation in various fields, strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs, and make new contributions to the development of comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era.

Song also introduced the relevant situation of the fourth plenary session of the 19 CPC Central Committee, and said that it is an important meeting held on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and is of great significance to enhancing confidence in our path, theory, system and culture, coping with risks and challenges in the new era, deepening reform and opening-up, and realizing the "two centenary goals". We are willing to introduce to the CPRF the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning on party governance and state administration, and promote greater progress in the cause of socialism.

Zyuganov congratulated the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the fourth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, spoke highly of the huge development achievement the Chinese people have made under the leadership of the CPC. He said that the CPRF highly endorses Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as it is an inheritance and development of Marxism and is of great significance not only to China, but also to the CPRF and the world socialist parties. The CPRF pays great attention to the major decisions made at the fourth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee on China's system and governance, and hopes to learn from the experience of the CPC in party governance and state administration and promote bilateral cooperation in the Belt and Road cooperation, culture, tourism, sports and locality to jointly safeguard world prosperity and stability.

After the talks, Song and Zyuganov signed a memorandum of cooperation for 2019-2024 on behalf of the CPC and the CPRF respectively.
