Beijing, May 21st—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Jan Adams, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia.
Liu said, in November last year, President Xi Jinping had in-depth discussions with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during his visit to China, charting the course for the development of China-Australia relations. Under the guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-Australia relations have been stabilized, and cooperation in various fields is gradually resuming. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen inter-party and other exchanges with the Australian side in various fields, enhance mutual correct understanding through constructive dialogue, strengthen practical cooperation in various fields, and promote the sustained, sound and steady development of China-Australia relations. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Australian side to properly manage differences, create a good atmosphere for the further development of bilateral relations and promote regional peace and development.
Jan Adams said, Australia-China relations have made positive progress in recent years and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's visit to China last year was very successful. Communication and dialogue are crucial and serve the common interests of the two countries. Australia is glad to see the rapid development of China's economy and is willing to maintain high-level exchanges with the Chinese side, deepen dialogue and exchanges in various fields, enhance mutual understanding, expand practical cooperation in economy, trade and other fields, and push Australia-China relations for greater development.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
