Dhaka, June 25th—Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin Chuppu met here today with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Chuppu welcomed Liu and the CPC delegation to Bangladesh, stating that the Bangladesh-China friendship was forged by the older generation of leaders from both countries. Bangladesh's founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had visited China twice, and wrote a book titled "Amar Dekha Naya Chin" (The New China as I Saw) based on what he saw and heard, many of whose predictions about China have now become reality. Under the leadership of the CPC, China has achieved great success, maintaining sustained and high-speed economic growth, becoming the world's second-largest economy. Despite the global economic slowdown, China still achieved a 5.2% economic growth rate last year, which is admirable. Bangladesh has made significant development achievements in recent years, with cooperation with China being an important factor. Many large infrastructure projects visible throughout Bangladesh were constructed by the Chinese side, for which the Bangladeshi side is deeply grateful. The Bangladeshi side adheres to the one-China principle and appreciates China's independent  foreign policy of peace. Bangladesh stands ready to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side in various fields, including trade, economy, agricultural and seafood exports, and to strengthen cooperation in multilateral mechanisms such as BRICS, aiming to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

Liu stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh nearly half a century ago, both countries have consistently trusted, respected, and supported each other, setting a model of friendly coexistence and win-win cooperation between nations. The stable development of China-Bangladesh relations is attributed to the guidance and leadership of leaders of both countries, and the exemplary significance of China-Bangladesh relations lies in independence and self-reliance. The Chinese side has always extended its firm support to the Bangladeshi side in safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and is willing to continue strengthening cooperation with the Bangladeshi side in various fields, including economy, trade, culture, education, healthcare, and tourism, working together towards a path of mutual benefit and prosperity. The CPC is willing to continue its tradition of friendly exchanges with all political parties in Bangladesh, including the Bangladesh Awami League (AL), enhance strategic communication, promote exchanges and mutual learning of experience in party building and state governance, and expand exchanges and cooperation in youth, media, and think tanks to deepen mutual understanding and trust. The Chinese side is also willing to strengthen coordination with the Bangladeshi side in multilateral affairs to safeguard the common interests of developing countries.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
