Beijing, July 22nd—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation led by Martin Schirdewan, Co-Chairman of Germany’s Left Party.
Liu said, over the past year, China-Germany relations have maintained good development momentum. In April this year, President Xi Jinping had in-depth exchanges with visiting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, charting the course for the future development of bilateral relations. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen communication and dialogue with the German side, promote practical cooperation in various fields, and push China-Germany relations for steady and sustained development. The Chinese side supports European integration and the strategic autonomy of the European Union (EU). It is hoped that the German side will play an important role in the EU, promote the healthy and stable development of China-EU relations, and realize mutual benefit and win-win results. The CPC is willing to strengthen exchanges and dialogue with all German political parties, including the Left Party, enhance understanding and mutual trust, and contribute to the healthy development of China-Germany and China-EU relations.
Liu said, the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee successfully concluded the other day. The Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Further Deepening Reform Comprehensively to Advance Chinese Modernization adopted at the plenary session shows the world China's firm determination to follow the path of reform and opening up, and maintain certainty and continuity in its opening-up policy, ensuring reform and development offer greater benefits to all the people in a fair way. The Chinese side is willing to share the major opportunities of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee with the German side, and work together to create greater well-being for the people of the two countries and the world.
Schirdewan thanked the Chinese side for inviting the delegation of Germany’s Left Party to visit China. He said he gained a better understanding of China's economic and social development, especially the Chinese modernization, through this visit, and congratulated the Chinese side on its great achievements in poverty alleviation. The Left Party paid close attention to the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. The German side appreciated the CPC's determination showcased at the plenary session to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor and achieve common prosperity. According to the plenary session, the Chinese side is committed to promoting high-level opening up, which is good news for Germany and the world. Maintaining good economic relations between Germany and China and between Europe and China is of great significance to both sides and the world. The Left Party is willing to strengthen exchanges with the CPC and promote the development of Germany-China and EU-China relations.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues such as the Ukraine crisis.
