Liu Jianchao Meets with a Delegation of Young Politicians of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party

Beijing, August 20thLiu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation of young politicians of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party led by Juan Lobato, Secretary General of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party of the Community of Madrid. 


Liu said, both China and Spain are nations with rich histories and profound cultural heritage, which fosters mutual admiration between the two countries. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Spanish side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, strengthen dialogue and cooperation, enhance friendly exchanges, uphold multilateralism and economic globalization, and jointly advance the implementation of the three major global initiatives to promote world peace and development. Liu introduced the modern and contemporary history of China and the development of the CPC, pointing out that the leadership of the CPC is the choice of history and the choice of the people. Young politicians will influence the future of a country's development and will also play an important role in promoting the development of state-to-state relations. It is hoped that the members of the delegation can better understand China and the CPC and promote the development of China-Spain relations. 

Liu said, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the CPC and the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party. Over the past 40 years, the two Parties have maintained friendly exchanges and made positive contributions to the development of China-Spain relations. Recently, the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee was successfully held, stressing that China will further comprehensively deepen reform and promote Chinese modernization. China will continue to promote high-quality economic development, adhere to a high level of opening up, and provide more opportunities for Spain and other countries in the world. The Chinese side supports European integration and stands ready to work with Spain and other European countries to promote the sound and stable development of China-Europe relations. 

Lobato said, the great achievements made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC have attracted worldwide attention, and the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party highly appreciates China's tremendous efforts in socialist construction, poverty eradication and world peace. In recent years, Spain-China relations have made positive progress. Spain is willing to further develop its relations with China and strengthen bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, tourism, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and other fields. The delegation hopes to have a better understanding of China and promote the sustained, healthy and stable development of bilateral relations through this visit. Addressing current major international issues is impossible without China's involvement. The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party values China's significant role as a major country and its contribution to global governance. The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party is willing to strengthen dialogue and communication with the Chinese side, jointly promote multilateralism and economic globalization, and work together to tackle global challenges.
