Beijing, August 27th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) of Germany led by Rolf Mutzenich, Chairman of the SPD of German parliamentary group.
Liu noted, in recent years, President Xi Jinping and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz have maintained close communication, charting the course for the further development of China-Germany relations. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the all-round strategic partnership between China and Germany. The Chinese side is willing to work with the German side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen bilateral relations, explore cooperation potential, jointly address global challenges, and promote the healthy and stable development of China-Germany relations. The 20th CPC Central Committee concluded its third plenary session not long ago, introducing over 300 significant reform measures, demonstrating the firm determination to carry the reform through to the end. The Chinese side is ready to continue sharing the benefits of its high-level opening up and high-quality development with the rest of the world, including Germany.
Liu noted, this year also marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the CPC and the SPD. Forty years ago, leaders of the CPC and SPD demonstrated exceptional courage in transcending the Cold War’s shadow to initiate inter-party dialogue, setting a successful example of equal and friendly exchanges between political parties from different civilizations, systems, and ideologies. The Chinese side is willing to work with the German side to continuously deepen the strategic dialogue between the two Parties, foster correct perceptions, enhance political mutual trust, and continue to contribute the wisdom and strength of political parties to deepening the China-Germany and China-EU comprehensive strategic partnerships.
Mutzenich said, relations between political parties are a vital pillar of Germany-China relations. Forty years ago, Willy Brandt and Mr. Deng Xiaoping jointly initiated the relationship between these two significant political parties, a legacy the SPD is committed to continuing and developing. In recent years, under the leadership of the CPC, China has achieved tremendous development, significantly improving the living standards of its people. China has also contributed to addressing climate change and promoting global development transitions. Amidst the many complex challenges facing the world today, it is hoped that the Chinese side will play an even greater role in maintaining world peace. The SPD is willing to deepen dialogue and cooperation with the CPC to promote the healthy and stable development of Germany-China and EU-China relations.
Liu and Mutzenich also jointly attended a reception commemorating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the CPC and the SPD, which was attended by around 50 representatives from various sectors of both countries.
Ma Hui, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, also participated in the aforementioned activities.
