Liu Jianchao Meets with Alberto van Klaveren Stork, Foreign Affairs Minister of Chile

Beijing, December 4th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Alberto van Klaveren Stork, Foreign Affairs Minister of Chile.

Liu said, President Xi Jinping met with Chilean President Gabriel Boric during the 31st APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Lima, drawing a blueprint for further deepening China-Chile relations. Next year is the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Chinese side will take this opportunity to work with the Chilean side to deepen practical cooperation in various fields under the framework of the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, intensify people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and push China-Chile comprehensive strategic partnership to new levels. The Chinese side is ready to strengthen multilateral coordination with the Chilean side, and promote greater development of China-Latin America relations. Yesterday, the fourth China-CELAC Political Parties' Forum was successfully held in Beijing. The CPC is willing to further strengthen political dialogue with all Chilean political parties, carry out in-depth exchanges and mutual learning of experience in state governance and administration, expand practical cooperation through the "political party +" channel, and boost China-Chile relations for stable development.

Alberto van Klaveren Stork said, Chile and China enjoy a long-standing friendship, and have achieved fruitful results in bilateral practical cooperation. The Chilean side is willing to work with the Chinese side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, maintain high-level exchanges, and deepen exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, culture, etc. Inter-party exchanges have played an important role in the development of Chile-China relations. The Chilean side is ready to strengthen exchanges with the CPC, deepen exchanges of ideas and concepts, and promote Chile-China relations for continuous development.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
