Bandung, January 19th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Amir Mahpud, Chairman of the West Java Regional Leadership Council of the Great Indonesia Movement Party. The meeting was attended by Irawan Ronodipuro, Director of Foreign Relations of the Central Committee of the Great Indonesia Movement Party, Buky Wibawa, Chairperson of the West Java Province Parliament, and Dedi Mulyadi, the elected Governor of West Java.
Liu said, last year, President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo Subianto agreed to upgrade the “four wheels” of China-Indonesia cooperation to "five pillars", which includes political, economic, cultural, maritime, and security cooperation, marking a new chapter in bilateral relations. West Java is one of the Indonesian provinces with more exchanges and cooperation with China. The Bandung Spirit, which was born in Bandung, has become an open, inclusive and universally applicable basic norm in international relations. China is ready to work with Indonesia to carry forward the Bandung Spirit in the new era, strengthen exchanges and cooperation between political parties and localities, and promote the building of a China-Indonesia community with a shared future with regional and global influence.
Amir Mahpud warmly welcomed the CPC delegation to Bandung, expressing that the city symbolizes unity. The Asian-African Conference was convened in Bandung in 1955. During the Conference, leaders of Asian and African countries put forward the well-known Ten Principles of Bandung. The Bandung Spirit has become an important foundation for solidarity and cooperation between China and Indonesia and between Asia and Africa, and has also guided the Great Indonesia Movement Party in its hard work. Indonesia is willing to work with China to carry forward the Bandung Spirit and promote solidarity and cooperation among developing countries. The Great Indonesia Movement Party is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC to better lead the development of respective countries.
On the same day, Liu visited the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, a China-Indonesia cooperation project, and also paid a visit to the former site of the Bandung Conference.
