Beijing, March 14th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), held a group discussion here today with diplomatic envoys of ASEAN countries to China at request. Diplomatic envoys of ten ASEAN countries to China including Peter Tan Hai Chuan, Singaporean Ambassador to China, who holds the rotating chair of ASEAN Committee in Beijing, and diplomatic envoys of Timor-Leste to China were present.

Liu said, China's policy of developing a comprehensive strategic partnership with ASEAN remains unchanged. China is ASEAN's most stable and reliable neighbor and partner. China-ASEAN relations have become the most successful model of cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. The Chinese side is willing to work with ASEAN countries to adhere to peaceful coexistence and mutual benefit and win-win results, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and promote the building of a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future. Profound changes unseen in a century are accelerating across the world, while all sorts of challenges are emerging. The overall peace and stability in Asia for decades is valuable and has laid the foundation for the prosperity and development of regional countries. Therefore it should be cherished. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen solidarity and coordination with ASEAN and work together to build a better future for Asia. The IDCPC is ready to strengthen exchanges with political parties of ASEAN countries and contribute to the development of state-to-state relations.

The diplomatic envoys of ASEAN countries to China said that ASEAN-China relationship is not only based on economy, trade and investment, but also on the close ties and mutual trust between the two peoples. Full of vitality, it has become a model for relations between large and small countries. The current rise of trade protectionism and isolationism is not in the interests of countries in the region. ASEAN countries are willing to comprehensively strengthen practical cooperation in various fields with China, further strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and better benefit the people of all countries. They congratulated China on the successful convening of the Two Sessions, saying the Two Sessions sent a strong signal of China's commitment to high-quality development, and China's continued development will benefit ASEAN countries.

Sun Haiyan, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, was present.
