Beijing, March 25th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Heng Swee Keat, Chairman of the People's Action Party (PAP) and Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore.
Liu said in recent years, China-Singapore relations have maintained high-level development. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Singaporean side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, maintain high-level exchanges, deepen integration of development strategies, expand all-round cooperation of mutual benefit, and constantly promote China-Singapore relations to a new level. Since the end of the Second World War, East Asia has generally maintained peace and stability, laying a foundation for the development and prosperity of regional countries. The Chinese side is ready to work with ASEAN countries, including Singapore, to maintain the hard-won peaceful environment in the region and promote common development. The CPC is willing to strengthen institutionalized exchanges with the PAP and deepen experience exchanges in state governance and administration.
Heng Swee Keat said, I came to China in 1997 for the first time and witnessed China's amazing development achievements over the past decades. China has made breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, electric vehicles and other fields. China's continued development is crucial to Singapore and ASEAN countries. The Singaporean side is willing to strengthen inter-party exchanges with the Chinese side, expand exchanges and cooperation in areas such as scientific and technological innovation and aging population, and promote the development of Singapore-China relations. The Singaporean side appreciates the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by President Xi Jinping, and believes that all countries should strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and respond to common challenges together.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
Sun Haiyan, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, and Peter Tan Hai Chuan, Singaporean Ambassador to China, were present.
