Beijing, April 28th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation of the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union led by Hiroshi Moriyama, Chairman of the Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union and Secretary-General of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

Liu said, in November last year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba held a successful meeting in Lima, where they agreed to comprehensively advance China-Japan strategic relationship of mutual benefit, providing strategic guidance for the future development of bilateral relations. China and Japan should jointly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen communication and dialogue, and realize long-lasting friendship. Since the end of World War II, Asian countries have stayed committed to seeking common ground while reserving differences and handling differences in accordance with the "Asian way", maintaining overall peace in Asia and creating a good environment for all countries to develop. The current international situation is turbulent. China and Japan should advocate unity and cooperation, seek development opportunities, and work together to meet common challenges. Unilateralism and protectionism jeopardizes the common interests of all countries. As major economies in the world, China and Japan should adhere to openness and inclusiveness and jointly maintain the global free trade system.

Liu said, Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union, as Japan's leading cross-party organization promoting friendship with China, has been committed to promoting the correct understanding of China across the Japanese society, and contributed to the development of China-Japan relations. It is hoped that Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union will carry forward the fine traditions and make efforts to enhance mutual understanding and trust between China and Japan, and safeguard peace and development in Asia and the world. The CPC is willing to strengthen political dialogue with all political parties in Japan and strengthen communication and exchanges with all sectors through channels such as the China-Japan ruling parties exchange mechanism.

Hiroshi Moriyama said, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and President Xi Jinping agreed to comprehensively advance China-Japan strategic relationship of mutual benefit, and build a constructive and stable China-Japan relationship. The two sides should follow the general direction for the future development of bilateral relations set by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen communication and dialogue at all levels, and consolidate the momentum of improvement in bilateral relations. Japan and China are neighbors with a long history of exchanges. It is natural that the two sides have some problems. But it is crucial to manage differences through dialogue and strive for concrete results in bilateral cooperation at an early date. Under the current circumstances, it is very important for Japan and China to strengthen exchanges and build a strong and solid dialogue channel. The Japan-China Friendship Parliamentarians' Union is willing to actively promote exchanges between the youth, women and localities of the two countries to enhance mutual understanding and trust. Japan pays great attention to the current world economic situation and will continue to be committed to maintaining a free and open international trade system based on rules.

Zhao Shitong, Assistant-minister of the IDCPC, Kenji Kanasugi, Japanese Ambassador to China, and others, were present.
