Beijing, April 30th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Natsuo Yamaguchi, Standing Advisor and former leader of Japan’s Komeito Party.

Liu expressed, since President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba at the end of last year, China and Japan have witnessed increasing exchanges and interactions, the restart of exchange mechanism between the ruling parties of the two countries, and frequent political party exchanges. China and Japan should maintain the momentum of exchanges, jointly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and promote China-Japan relations for continuous improvement. Since the end of World War II, Asia has enjoyed overall stability, which is truly valuable, laying the foundation for the prosperity and development of all countries. The current international landscape is undergoing profound and complex changes. China, Japan and other Asian countries should adhere to peaceful coexistence, respond to common challenges with Asian values, maintain lasting peace and promote common prosperity. Trade wars and tariff wars undermine the legitimate rights and interests of all countries and impact the world economic order. China and Japan should work together to maintain an open and free global trade system.

Liu noted, Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi actively promoted the development of China-Japan relations when serving as the leader of the Komeito Party, for which the Chinese side expresses appreciation. The CPC is willing to work with the Komeito Party to make good use of the exchange mechanism between the ruling parties of China and Japan, strengthen political dialogue, enhance mutual understanding, promote youth and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and comprehensively advance China-Japan strategic relationship of mutual benefit. At present, China is fully implementing the arrangements of the 20th CPC National Congress of and the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, promoting Chinese modernization and high-quality economic development. China is willing to share development opportunities with Japan.

Natsuo Yamaguchi said, recently, the ruling parties of Japan and China have had frequent exchanges. Both sides have had in-depth dialogues on Japan-China relations, which is of great significance. I have visited China many times and have seen China's remarkable achievements in many areas such as infrastructure construction. The main purpose of my visit to China this time is to further promote educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries. The economic development of China and Japan is closely connected. The high tariff policy has a significant impact on the international community. Japan advocates jointly maintaining a free and open multilateral trading system based on rules and finding solutions that are in the interests of all parties through consultation. In the face of various challenges in Asia, regional countries should strengthen political and security dialogues, and enhance mutual understanding and trust.

Zhao Shitong, Assistant-minister of the IDCPC, Keiichi Ishii, Standing Advisor and former leader of Japan’s Komeito Party, Kenji Kanasugi, Japanese Ambassador to China, and others, were present.
