Beijing, May 28th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Pansak Vinyaratn, Chief Advisor on Policy to the Prime Minister of Thailand.

Liu said, at present, China-Thailand relations are maintaining strong momentum of development. The two sides have deepened political mutual trust, carried out fruitful cooperation in economy and trade and other fields, and enhanced people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The concept of "China and Thailand are as close as one family" has taken root in people's hearts. China is willing to work with Thailand to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to well implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen high-level exchanges, deepen Belt and Road cooperation and cooperation in other fields, and promote the building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future. The current international situation is undergoing profound and complex changes, with increasing uncertainties and instabilities. China is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Thailand on international and regional affairs to inject more stability and positive energy into the world. China firmly supports the central position of ASEAN in the regional framework and is willing to work hand in hand with ASEAN to jointly maintain regional peace, stability and prosperity.

Pansak said, through the visits to various parts of China, I have witnessed China's tremendous progress in all fields, especially the perfect combination of modernity and tradition in China. The Chinese people's perseverance and ceaseless efforts are admirable. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China. The two sides should continue to work together on the basis of the good relations of the past 50 years, strengthen cooperation in the Thailand-China High-Speed Rail and other projects of the Belt and Road cooperation, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, carry forward the traditional friendship between Thailand and China, and jointly draw a new 50-year chapter of Thailand-China relations. In the face of the unpredictable international situation, countries around the world should strengthen cross-cultural exchanges and dialogues, increase mutual trust, reduce misgivings, and achieve common progress.

Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, attended the meeting.
