Paphos, June 7th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), held discussions here today with the grassroots organization of the Paphos District Committee of the Progressive Party of Working People (AKEL) of Cyprus. Andreas Fakontis, Secretary of the AKEL Paphos District Committee, and responsible officials of the District Committee's organization, youth, women, and trade union affairs were present. 

Liu said, the CPC and the AKEL share similar concepts and are committed to serving the people, and the two Parties are good comrades and good brothers. The two sides should further strengthen exchanges at all levels, including at the local level, and enhance exchanges and mutual learning of grassroots governance and experience in grassroots party building, so as to better benefit the people of the two countries. Zhou Jialei, Deputy Secretary-General of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, introduced the relevant situation of the construction of grassroots organizations of the CPC in conjunction with the work of Beijing. 

Fakontis warmly welcomed the CPC delegation, which was visiting the AKEL's organization of the Paphos District Committee. He expressed that the AKEL is ready to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning with the CPC and promote cooperation in economy and trade as well as local cooperation. He also introduced the work of the AKEL Paphos District Committee.
