Beijing, June 24th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation led by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
Liu noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh more than 50 years ago, bilateral relationship has grown stronger over time. China has always regarded Bangladesh as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy, and maintained a high degree of stability and continuity in its good-neighborly and friendly policy toward Bangladesh. Both countries have become good neighbors, good friends and good partners of mutual trust. Not long ago, President Xi Jinping had in-depth exchanges with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus during the latter's visit to China on deepening political mutual trust and promoting cooperation in various areas. China is willing to work with Bangladesh to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, expand practical cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, pursue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and bring China-Bangladesh comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a new level. Bangladesh is currently at a critical stage of national transformation. China respects and supports the development path independently chosen by the Bangladeshi people, and hopes Bangladesh to return to the right track of unity, stability, development and prosperity at an early date. The CPC is willing to work with all political parties in Bangladesh, including the BNP, to strengthen political dialogue, deepen exchanges of concepts, enhance political mutual trust, and continuously consolidate the foundation of friendship between the two countries.
Alamgir expressed that Bangladesh attaches great importance to its relations with China. Successive Bangladeshi governments have all adhered to a friendly policy toward China and have firmly upheld the one-China principle. Bangladesh expresses its gratitude for China's long-term help and support for its economic development and improvement of people’s livelihoods. Bangladesh hopes to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to expand cooperation with China in economy, trade, investment, production capacity alignment, infrastructure, agricultural product trade, medical and health care, language and vocational and technical training, to better benefit the people of the two countries. The BNP is ready to strengthen exchanges with the CPC, actively learn experience in reform, development, and governance from China, enhance its own capacity building, and promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
Sun Haiyan, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, was present.
