Beijing, June 24th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Vivian Balakrishnan, Chairman of the External Relations Committee of the People's Action Party (PAP) and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore.
The two sides exchanged in-depth views on the development of China-Singapore relations, exchanges and cooperation between the ruling parties, and international and regional issues of common concern under the new circumstances. The two sides agreed that the current international landscape is marked by growing turbulence, emerging hotspot issues, and increasing instability and uncertainty, which pose serious challenges to regional prosperity and stability. The two sides should fully implement the latest important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen dialogue, communication, coordination and cooperation in various fields, and inject more certainty into the region and the world. The CPC and the PAP are willing to continue to strengthen the institutionalized exchanges between the two Parties, deepen political dialogue between the political parties as well as exchanges and mutual learning of experience in state governance and administration, jointly respond to the new situation and new challenges, and constantly enrich the connotation of the relations between the two Parties and the two countries.
Sun Haiyan, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, Sim Ann, Deputy Party Whip of the PAP and Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Albert Chua, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, and others, were present.
