Liu Jianchao Meets with a Delegation of Former Thai Ambassadors to China

Beijing, June 25th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation of former Thai Ambassadors to China including Tej Bunnag, former Thai Foreign Minister and Ambassador to China, and Don Pramudwinai, former Thai Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Ambassador to China. 


Liu welcomed the delegation and said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand and the "Golden Jubilee of China-Thailand Friendship". This journey was inseparable from the continuous promotion of successive Thai ambassadors to China. China is willing to work with Thailand to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to further consolidate the sound development momentum of China-Thailand relations, expand practical cooperation, deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and bring more benefits to the people of the two countries. The global and regional situations are now undergoing profound and complex changes. China is willing to strengthen strategic communication and coordination with ASEAN countries including Thailand to jointly maintain regional peace and stability, and work with Thailand and other Global South countries to jointly maintain the global trade order and defend the development rights and interests of developing countries. The CPC is willing to closely communicate and cooperate with all Thai political parties and all sectors of society to continuously enhance the close ties and kinship shared by China and Thailand. Liu also shared his views on the international and regional situation with the Thai side. 


Tej Bunnag, Don Pramudwinai and other Thai guests happily recalled their experiences in participating in and promoting the development of Thailand-China relations, and said that it was a great privilege to be invited to visit China on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and to witness the new height of Thailand-China friendship. Thailand has always regarded China as an important development partner, and is willing to further strengthen the ties of friendly cooperation between the two countries, enhance cooperation in various fields, and promote greater development of Thailand-China relations. Thailand appreciates China's role as a responsible major country on the international stage, and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China through mechanisms such as BRICS cooperation to help the Global South countries jointly safeguard international fairness and justice.
