Beijing, November 7th—Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Peter Wilson, Ambassador of the UK to China.

Liu said, China and the UK are both permanent members of the United Nations (UN) Security Council and major economies in the world, shouldering important international responsibilities. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, exchanges in various fields between the two sides have gradually resumed and institutional dialogues have been restarted since the beginning of this year, which has effectively boosted the confidence of all sectors of society and sent out positive signals to the world. The CPC has maintained sound exchanges with major political parties in the UK, playing a positive role in promoting the building of a stable and mutually beneficial China-UK relationship. Under the new circumstances, the CPC is willing to work with all political parties in the UK, including both the ruling and opposition parties, to strengthen exchanges through platforms such as the China-UK Senior Leadership Forum, enhance mutual understanding and trust, and continuously consolidate the momentum of improvement and development of bilateral relations. Liu also briefed on the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and said that China is willing to strengthen the alignment of development strategies and share development opportunities with the UK.
Peter Wilson said, the UK and China enjoy extensive common interests. Both sides uphold free trade and multilateralism. The UK is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China in areas such as economy, trade, finance, education and climate change, and develop a long-term, stable and strategic UK-China relationship. Inter-party exchanges play an important role in UK-China relations. The Embassy of the UK in China is willing to enhance communication with the IDCPC and promote continued exchanges and dialogues between the UK and China through platforms such as the UK-China Senior Leadership Forum. The UK is willing to enhance its understanding of the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.
