Liu Haixing Meets with Nicholas O’Brien, Ambassador of Ireland to China

Beijing, March 25thLiu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Nicholas OBrien, Ambassador of Ireland to China. 


Liu said, in January this year, President Xi Jinping met with the visiting Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin, and the two leaders reached important consensus on China-Ireland relations, providing strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations. The CPC is willing to further deepen inter-party exchanges and cooperation with the main political parties of Ireland, continuously consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations, and promote the continuous development of the China-Ireland strategic partnership for mutually beneficial cooperation. Recently, the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan was reviewed and approved at the Two Sessions of China. China is willing to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Ireland and share development opportunities. 

Nicholas OBrien said, Ireland attaches importance to the opportunities brought by China's development and is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two leaders and deepen practical cooperation in trade and economy, education, tourism, agriculture, local affairs and other fields. Ireland has always adhered to the one-China policy. The inter-party relations between Ireland and China have played a positive role in promoting the development of Ireland-China relations. The Embassy of Ireland in China will maintain close collaboration with the IDCPC.
