Beijing, October 10th—The Sixth China-Pacific Island Countries Political Leadership Dialogue, themed on Jointly Write a New Chapter of Building China-Pacific Island Countries Community with a Shared Future, was held here today. Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), Viliami Latu, Deputy Prime Minister of Tonga, and political party leaders, political figures and diplomatic envoys from Pacific Island Countries (PICs) to China, including Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Kiribati, the Federated States of Micronesia, Naoero, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, attended the event.

Liu said that in 2022, President Xi Jinping proposed that China is ready to work with PICs to build an even closer China-PICs community with a shared future. Guided by this strategic goal in recent years, China and PICs have upheld mutual respect and equal treatment, strengthened strategic mutual trust and mutual assistance on security, prioritized development and put people first to achieve mutual benefit and common prosperity, embraced harmony without uniformity, openness and inclusiveness to promote exchanges and mutual learning and foster closer bonds between the peoples, and upheld fairness, justice and solidarity to advance equality, order, inclusiveness and shared benefits. These efforts have yielded positive results in building a China-PICs community with a shared future.

Liu said that the current international situation is marked by intertwined changes and challenges, with both opportunities and risks, while China and PICs are each at a crucial stage of development and national rejuvenation. China stands ready to work with PICs to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, align China’s 15th Five-Year Plan with the Pacific Islands Forum Strategic Plan 2025-2030, and deepen practical cooperation in trade and economy, digital technology, artificial intelligence and green transformation. The two sides will also further strengthen friendly exchanges in culture and tourism, sports and education, media and think tanks, youth and women, and people-to-people and local-level engagement, implement the four major global initiatives and build a community with a shared future for humanity. The CPC stands ready to work with political parties and political figures in PICs to uphold shared values, fulfill responsibilities as political parties, and advance “political party+” cooperation, contributing greater strength from political parties to building a China-PICs community with a shared future.

Political party leaders and political figures from PICs attending the dialogue said, China has never viewed the Pacific through the lens of geopolitical rivalry, but has consistently and sincerely supported regional development, revitalization and improvements in people's livelihoods. China is a true friend and good partner of PICs. The PICs have always made developing relations with China a priority and firmly upheld the one-China principle. The PICs recognize that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory and oppose all forms of “Taiwan independence” separatist activities. PICs stand ready to strengthen cooperation with China in economy, trade, investment, infrastructure, health, culture and education, and climate and marine conservation, so as to enhance the resilience of PICs' development and improve the well-being of the peoples. In the face of the many practical challenges confronting the world today, PICs support the major visions and initiatives proposed by President Xi and stand ready to strengthen regional and multilateral cooperation with China to jointly promote stability and prosperity in the Pacific region. Political parties in PICs are also willing to maintain close exchanges and dialogue with the CPC, consolidate political mutual trust, expand channels of cooperation and build bridges between the peoples, making continued and new contributions to building an even closer China-PICs community with a shared future.
Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, chaired the dialogue. Representatives from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Commerce, the China International Development Cooperation Agency, local authorities, universities and think tanks attended the event.

Prior to the dialogue, Liu held a group meeting with political party leaders, political figures and diplomatic envoys from PICs attending the event, and exchanged views with them on advancing inter-party exchanges and cooperation.
