Beijing, October 13th—Liu Haixing, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a multiparty parliamentary delegation from Peru led by Nilza Chacón Trujillo, Second Vice President of the Peruvian Senate.

Liu said, China and Peru are good friends, good partners and good brothers, and China-Peru relations have long been at the forefront of China’s relations with Latin American countries. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Peru relations and practical cooperation have yielded fruitful results. Based on mutual respect and mutual benefit, China-Peru cooperation does not target any third party and should not be subject to interference by any third party. Over the years, political parties in China and Peru have maintained friendly exchanges and actively contributed to bilateral friendship and cooperation. The CPC stands ready to work with political parties in Peru to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, maintain close high-level exchanges and strategic communication, and enhance exchanges and mutual learning on party governance and state administration. The two sides have deepened practical cooperation and local-level exchanges through inter-party channels, promoted exchanges and cooperation among trade unions, youth, women, think tanks, media and social organizations, and advanced the steady and sustained development of China-Peru relations, bringing benefits to the two peoples. Liu also briefed the delegation on the CPC’s 105-year history of endeavor and experience in party governance and state administration, particularly Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building.

Chacón and other members of the delegation said that this year marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Peru and China. Over the past 55 years, bilateral relations have maintained sound and steady development. Peru attaches great importance to developing relations with China and stands ready to further deepen cooperation with China in various fields, including trade and economy, infrastructure, disaster prevention and mitigation, scientific and technological innovation, culture and education. They noted that Chancay Port is a landmark project in practical cooperation between Peru and China. It has not only strengthened connectivity between Latin America and China and Asia, but also created important opportunities for Peru’s economic and social development. Although Peruvian political parties hold different views on domestic affairs, they all support the cooperation with China and are willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC. They expressed Peru's strong support for and anticipation of the successful hosting by China of the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting.
