Beijing, May 10th—Qian Hongshan, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the 5th Dialogue on Sustainable Development between the CPC and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). The dialogue is themed with “40 years of reform and opening up and China-Germany and China-EU cooperation”.
Qian expressed that this year marks the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening up. Over the 40 years, China has seen great changes. At present, China has started a new round of the journey of reform and opening up. China will develop better in the future and will make greater contributions to the world. The Chinese side has always attached great importance to the relations between the two countries and the two parties and hopes that the dialogue between the two parties will make positive contributions to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields between the two countries.
Thorsten Schäfer-Gümbel, Deputy Chairman of the SPD of Germany expressed that, in the process of globalization, both countries and the two parties face similar challenges. Both sides should strengthen exchanges and communication as well as mutual learning to jointly benefit the people of the two countries and people of the world at large.
The SPD delegation led by Gümbel attended the dialogue. Experts from the Academy of Macroeconomic Research, China Institute of International Studies, the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and relevant institutions attended the dialogue.
