Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament Elects New Leaders Ma Biao Elected as the President

The 10th joint conference of member organizations and the 3rd conference of council members of the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD) were held in Beijing on April 2nd. Ma Biao, Vice Chairperson of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and 9th Vice President of the CPAPD; Han Qide, Vice Chairperson of the 12th National Committee of the CPPCC and 9th President of the CPAPD; Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), and others were present. New leaders and council members of the CPAPD were elected, with Ma Biao as the President. At the conference, Ma Biao and Han Qide respectively delivered a speech. Wang Yajun, CPAPD Counselor and Vice-minister of the IDCPC, chaired the conference.

Ma said that facing the new situation, new task and new requirement, the CPAPD must take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as guidance to take a loftier stance, find the right position, further highlight features and advantages, brave in breaking new ground and making innovation, closely coordinate with China’s overall diplomacy, and play a more active and unique role in focusing on the central tasks and serving the overall interests.

Han hoped that the CPAPD could forge ahead in the new era and make new deeds under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, under the guidance of President Ma and the IDCPC, and with the support and coordination of all member organizations and council members.

Launched by relevant people’s groups, social organizations, and celebrities of various ethnic groups and from all walks of life in China in June of 1985, the CPAPD is China’s largest non-governmental peace organization.
