Beijing, June 5th—Wang Yajun, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here on the afternoon with Jean-Christophe Belliard, Deputy Secretary-General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service (EEAS).

Speaking positively of the sound momentum of the current China-EU relations, Wang stressed that both China and the EU should make concerted efforts to strengthen practical cooperation in various areas and enhance communication and mutual learning between the two major civilizations, in a bid to make contributions to common prosperity and development of China and the EU and the peace and stability of the world.

Belliard expressed that in the volatile world at present, the significance of the EU-China partnership has become increasingly prominent. The EU opposes the unilateralism policy and "long-arm jurisdiction" imposed by the United States, stands ready to push forward the integration of the EU Strategy on Connecting Europe and Asia with the Belt and Road Initiative of China and looks forward to stepping up dialogue and cooperation with China in various areas.
