On the afternoon of April 15th, Guo Yezhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), attended an online video conference organized by the IDCPC on COVID-19 prevention between Chinese and Indian medical workers. The conference was attended by Zhong Nanshan, an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and leader of high level expert group of National Health Commission and the expert team from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, as well as Rahul Gandhi, President of Indian National Congress, Madhu Chandra, Chief Executive Officer of Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital in Uttar Pradesh and other Indian experts. The Chinese and Indian experts had in-depth exchanges on the diagnosis and treatment plan of the COVID-19 outbreak and its prevention and control measures.

Guo mainly briefed on the effective outcomes and experience and practices of China’s epidemic prevention and control work under the personal command and deployment of General Secretary Xi Jinping, and expressed that the conference was first one that China and India has held on sharing epidemic prevention experience through inter-party channel, which is conducive to enhancing epidemic prevention cooperation between both sides and overcoming the difficulties together. It will deepen the friendship between the two peoples upon the 70th anniversary of the establishment of China-India diplomatic relations.

Speaking positively of China’s achievements in fighting the virus, Rahul and Indian medical works applauded China for sharing the epidemic prevention experience, which provides precious support for global fight against the coronavirus. China’s experience is an important reference for India to better control the spread of the epidemic and to treat patients suffering from disease, and the Indian side looks forward to closer cooperation between the two sides.
