On the afternoon of May 19th, Guo Yezhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended a CPC-AL video conference on COVID-19 response and governance experience under the theme of Towards Anti-epidemic Synergy & Better Governance Practices: Political Parties at Work. Wang Hesheng, Director of the Hubei Provincial Health Commission and Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee; Faruk Khan, Presidium Member of the Central Working Committee of the Awami League (AL) of Bangladesh; and Zahid Malik, Minister for Health and Family Welfare of Bangladesh, attended and addressed the event. The video conference was also attended by relevant experts and representatives from Wuhan and Hubei as well as mayor of the Dhaka North City Corporation, related principals of AL Central Working Committee, and Bangladeshi medical experts. Both sides had in-depth exchanges on COVID-19 prevention and control, work and production resumption, the Belt and Road cooperation and other topics.
Guo mainly briefed on China’s positive achievements in coordinating epidemic containment and economic and social development, and relevant information on China’s upcoming “Two Sessions”. He noted, the conference was the first online video conference this year under the framework of CPC In Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting and also the first time for the ruling parties of China and Bangladesh to exchange experience in fighting the epidemic. It showcases the profound friendship of sharing weal and woe and overcoming difficulties between the two Parties and the two countries, which will help both sides deepen practical cooperation in various fields and benefit the two peoples.
Highly commending the phased outcomes achieved by the CPC and the Chinese government in leading the Chinese people in COVID-19 containment under the strong leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping, Faruk Khan and Zahid Malik thanked China for offering selfless assistance to Bangladesh’s fight against the epidemic and expressed the Bangladesh’s firm opposition to politicizing and stigmatizing the outbreak. They also expected to continue to step up epidemic prevention cooperation and the building of the Belt and Road Initiative to boost regional economic recovery and build a community with a shared future with neighboring countries.
