On June 15th, Li Mingxiang, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), attended the opening ceremony of an online training workshop for cadres of the Alliance for the Republic (APR) of Senegal and addressed the workshop via videolink. On behalf of Minister Song Tao and the IDCPC, Li congratulated on the opening of the workshop and mainly briefed on outcomes, experience and practices in COVID-19 response under the CPC’s leadership. He said that the CPC is willing to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the APR, share experience in fighting the virus and promoting economic and social development, provide assistance within its capacity through inter-party channels and implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state as well as the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation to build an even stronger China-Africa community of shared future.

Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, Minister of Health and Social Action, made statements through videolink at the opening ceremony. Speaking highly of the major strategic achievement the CPC, the Chinese government and people have made in COVID-19 response under the leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping, Sarr thanked China for sharing anti-pandemic experience and for enhancing exchanges of experience in state governance and administration. Sarr said that the online training workshop will help the APR lead the Senegalese people to defeat the virus and revitalize economic and social development as soon as possible in Senegal and to promote the friendly cooperation and relations between the two Parties and the two countries for greater development.

The four-day workshop will be attended by over 20 APR senior and middle-rank officials. Both sides will have an in-depth exchange of views on leveraging the ruling parties’ role in fighting the pandemic, promoting pandemic response and economic and social development in a coordinated manner, carrying out international anti-pandemic cooperation, consolidating China-Africa friendship and poverty reduction.
