On June 18th, Qian Hongshan, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, communicated via videolink at request with Dmitry Novikov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), and member of the State Duma Committee on Healthcare, and then gave a joint interview to Russia’s “Red Line” Television Channel. The video connection was also attended by Feng Luzhao, head of the respiratory infectious disease of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Qian noted that with the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, China and Russia have fought against the COVID-19 together, and supported and helped each other, fully demonstrating the high-level feature and strategic significance of China-Russia relations. The CPC is willing to deepen exchanges with the CPRF and other major political parties, and make unremitting efforts to advance the in-depth development of China-Russia relations in the new era. Feng briefed upon enquiry on the building of China’s medical and healthcare system, as well as China’s practices and experience in COVID-19 response.

The Russian side expressed that the Chinese people have obtained major strategic outcomes in fighting the disease under the leadership of the CPC, setting a role model for global fight against the virus and making extraordinary contributions to maintaining global public health security. The Russian side is prepared to actively learn from China’s experience in the disease prevention and control, and hopes to deepen friendly exchanges and cooperation with the CPC.
