Sun Haiyan Meets with U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar

Kunming, July 22nd—Sun Haiyan, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, who was in China for the 8th China-South Asia Exposition.  


Sun said, with a traditional "pauk-phaw" friendship, China and Myanmar have always supported and trusted each other. China is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Myanmar in various fields, share the opportunities of Chinese modernization, and promote bilateral relations for continuous development. China supports Myanmar in achieving national reconciliation at an early date under the constitutional framework and continuing the process of political transformation.  

U Than Swe said, China is Myanmar's most important neighbor. Myanmar attaches great importance to developing relations with China, admires China's development achievements, and is willing to deepen cooperation with China in various fields under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Myanmar firmly adheres to the one-China policy, resolutely cracks down on cross-border crimes such as telecom fraud, and conducts close cooperation with China in this regard. Myanmar is still facing many difficulties and challenges at home, and hopes to continue to receive support and help from China to restore peace and stability at an early date.
