Boao, March 28th—Ma Hui, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended here today a panel discussion themed on "Enhancing Dialogue among Civilizations and Promoting Understanding and Trust" at the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2025 and delivered a speech.
Ma said, the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-Level Meeting in 2023 reveals the fundamental laws of exchange among civilizations and development, sincerely calls on the world to deeply promote exchanges and dialogues among civilizations, embrace inclusiveness and mutual learning, and advance human civilization, and points out new prospects for cooperation in human society.
Ma said, mutual learning and exchange are the essential requirements for the development of civilizations and an important driving force for the progress of human civilization. We should draw wisdom from the history of human civilization, vigorously promote the common values of all mankind, uphold an inclusive spirit, engage in candid dialogues, seek common ground while reserving differences, and join hands to address global challenges and jointly promote world peace and development. We should integrate and optimize more bilateral and multilateral mechanisms and platforms, give full play to the role of political parties, parliaments, think tanks, universities and other bridges and links, strengthen exchanges among all sectors including youth, civil society groups, enterprises, localities and media, build a global network for dialogue and cooperation among civilizations, and enhance cultural integration and people-to-people bonds among countries. We should fully explore the contemporary value of the historical and cultural heritages of all countries and promote the creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional cultures in the process of modernization.
The panel discussion themed on "Enhancing Dialogue among Civilizations and Promoting Understanding and Trust" was chaired by Kim Sook, special advisor to BFA Chairman and former ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations (UN). Jean Pierre Raffarin, former French Prime Minister, Guy Ryder, UN Under-Secretary-General for Policy, and María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Minister of National Defense of Ecuador, delivered speeches.
