On the morning of September 10th, the Second International Civil Society Solidarity Conference on the Global Development Initiative commenced in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Xiao Jie, Vice Chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee and President of the China NGO Network for International Exchanges, delivered a keynote speech. Gbèhounou Louis Vlavonou, President of the National Assembly of Benin, Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary-General, Ouch Borith, First Vice President of the Senate of Cambodia, and Sun Shaocheng, Secretary of the CPC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional People's Congress, delivered speeches. Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), presided over the opening ceremony. More than 300 guests from over 50 countries attended the conference to discuss global development topics.
Lu said, this conference, with the theme of "Building Global Consensus on Development and Sharing Opportunities for a Prosperous Future", aims to comprehensively showcase the significant progress made in global development and the rich achievements of the international civil society in implementing the Global Development Initiative (GDI) over the past four years since General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the Global Development Initiative, as well as the vivid practices of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in promoting high-quality economic development and high-level ecological protection in a coordinated manner. The conference provides a platform for people from all walks of life who care about global development and builds a public opinion foundation and popular support for the implementation of the GDI. It is hoped that the international community will contribute wisdom and strength to promoting cooperation on the GDI, strengthening development momentum, and enhancing people's well-being. China is also willing to work with all parties to earnestly implement the four major global initiatives, promote the building of a more just and reasonable global governance system, and jointly move towards a community with a shared future for mankind.
This conference is guided by the IDCPC and jointly organized by the China NGO Network for International Exchanges and the Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It includes an opening ceremony, practical cooperation matchmaking sessions, and exchange sessions.
