Chen Zhou Meets with Takehiko Matsuo, Vice Minister at the METI of Japan

Beijing, November 7th—Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Takehiko Matsuo, Vice Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan.


Chen said, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting at request, and comprehensively and systematically elaborated on China's principled position on China-Japan relations. It is hoped that Japan would adhere to the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, properly handle major issues of principle such as the Taiwan question, and safeguard the political foundation of China-Japan relations. Both sides should further promote economic and trade cooperation, expand personnel exchanges, and jointly maintain a free and open international trade system and keep the global industrial and supply chains stable and unimpeded. Chen also specifically introduced the spirit of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and welcomed Japan's active participation in Chinese modernization. 

Matsuo thanked Chen for the briefing on the plenary session. He said, the leaders of Japan and China recently reached important consensus on promoting cooperation between the two countries in various fields. The METI of Japan is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side to promote more concrete results in Japan-China cooperation, and looks forward to maintaining close exchanges with the IDCPC.
