Lu Kang Leads an IDCPC Delegation to Visit Canada

From March 10th to 13th, Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), led a delegation to visit Canada. During the visit, he met respectively with Jean Chrétien, former Canadian Prime Minister, Clément Gignac, Co-Chair of the Canada-China Legislative Association, Kody Blois, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, and McCardell, Associate Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Lu also held discussions with think tank scholars and representatives from the business community. 



Lu said, in January this year, Prime Minister Mark Carney successfully visited China. The leaders of the two countries agreed to promote the building of a new type of strategic partnership, providing strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations. With the joint efforts of both sides, China-Canada relations are improving and have been widely welcomed by people from all walks of life in both countries. The fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress of China, which just concluded, approved the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), China will adhere to openness, cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win results, focus on expanding domestic demand, innovation-driven development and green transformation, and provide stability and predictability to the world with its own development. The CPC is willing to strengthen dialogue with Canadian political parties, enhance political mutual trust between China and Canada, promote practical cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and jointly promote the improvement of global governance. Lu also exchanged views with the Canadian side on the international order and the situation in the Middle East. 



The Canadian side said, it is glad to see that Canada-China relations are at a new starting point and is willing to strengthen exchanges with the Chinese side to enhance mutual understanding and trust and promote the continuous development of the strategic partnership between the two countries in a constructive way. All sectors in Canada pay close attention to the opportunities brought by China's 15th Five-Year Plan and high-quality development to the world, and look forward to deepening practical cooperation in trade, investment, clean energy, artificial intelligence, finance and other fields, promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges in education, science and technology, youth and other fields, jointly defending multilateralism and maintaining the role of the United Nations, and implementing the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and the outcomes of Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to China. 

Wang Di, Chinese Ambassador to Canada, and Luo Weidong, Consul General of China in Toronto, and others attended the above activities.
