Beijing, July 2nd—Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today on the morning with guests of European strategic community, including Robin Geiss, Director of the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), and Pascal Boniface, Director of the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS). The two sides exchanged views on the international security situation, China-Europe and other issues of common interest.

Lu noted that the current international situation is marked by intertwined changes and turbulence, and that the international order established by the UN Charter has not been effectively upheld. China supports the UN in playing a central and leading role in international affairs. Europe is an important pole in a multipolar world, and China's position of supporting Europe in strengthening its strategic autonomy and in playing an important role in international affairs has not changed. The two sides should uphold true multilateralism and jointly safeguard world peace and stability. Strategic community figures from China and Europe should strengthen exchanges to promote the healthy and stable development of China-Europe relations.
The foreign side noted that the international situation is undergoing the most complex changes since the end of World War II. The basic norms governing international relations have not been effectively observed, and the world faces security challenges such as frequent regional conflicts, rising nuclear proliferation risks and governance gaps in emerging fields. All parties should strengthen international cooperation to address these challenges jointly. Europe and China share extensive common interests, and deepening cooperation between the two sides is the right choice. They expressed the readiness to strengthen exchanges with the Chinese side and enhance mutual understanding between the two sides.
