On May 30th, a thematic briefing on "Stories of CPC: Hubei's Achievements in Practicing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in a New Era" was held in Wuhan, which is jointly hosted by the IDCPC and the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee. The theme of this thematic briefing is "Chinese Modernization: New Thinking to Break New Ground", which showcased how the CPC has propelled Chinese modernization, injecting strong momentum into China's development and offering new opportunities for growth to nations worldwide.
This event marked the largest and highest-level international gathering with most foreign political parties in Hubei in recent years. Over 170 party leaders or representatives from nearly 30 countries attended the event offline. The briefing was also live-streamed globally in multiple languages, including English, French, and Arabic, reaching political parties around the world.
Sthembiso Bhengu, Director of South Africa’s Chris Hani Institute, highlighted in an interview with Chinese media, including www.thepaper.cn, that the CPC has always placed great emphasis on adapting Marxism to China's unique national circumstances. This has been a crucial factor in China's remarkable achievements in its own modernization.
During his visit to Wuhan, Sthembiso Bhengu and his colleagues toured several universities and were astounded by the innovative accomplishments in areas such as healthcare, automatic production, and electronic devices. This left a deep impression on him and fueled his anticipation for future collaborations. He expressed his hope that Chinese universities could further engage with African research centers, particularly in the field of public health, as this would yield immense benefits for both nations.
Moreover, he also acknowledged the significant value that China's rural development holds for South Africa. He noticed that the CPC has implemented diverse development and cooperation initiatives in rural regions. He said, 40 percent of South Africa's population still resides in rural areas, and South Africa can draw valuable lessons from China's approaches to rural construction such as how to establish sustainable rural communities and how to protect resources in rural areas. These endeavors would undoubtedly contribute to the advancement of rural development in South Africa.
