Beijing, December 20th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Marko Djurić, Vice President of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and Serbian Foreign Minister.
Liu said, China and Serbia share a long-standing friendship which is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. It is a common and precious asset of the two peoples. In recent years, President Xi Jinping and President Aleksandar Vučić have maintained close communication and reached important consensus on building a China-Serbia community with a shared future in the new era. China-Serbia relations have become a model of friendly relations between China and a European country. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Serbian side to jointly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, firmly support each other on issues involving respective core interests and major concerns, deepen practical cooperation and people-to-people and cultural exchanges in various fields, and constantly promote China-Serbia relations to a new level. The Chinese side will continue to firmly support Serbia in safeguarding its national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and defending its legitimate rights and interests.
Liu said, a strong and friendly inter-party relationship is an important feature of China-Serbia relations. The CPC is willing to strengthen institutionalized exchanges and political dialogues with the SNS, expand high-level exchanges and exchanges in all areas including cadre training, youth, think tanks, and the media, deepen experience exchange and mutual learning in state governance and administration, boost cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and lay a solid political foundation and public opinion basis for building a China-Serbia community with a shared future in the new era.
Djurić said, President Xi Jinping successfully paid a historic visit to Serbia in May this year, elevating bilateral relationship to a new height of Serbia-China community with a shared future in the new era. Serbia and China share common ideas and pursuits in upholding independence, firmly safeguarding national sovereignty and security, and valuing economic development and democracy. The Serbian side thanks the Chinese side for supporting it in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity and the valuable assistance to Serbia's economic and social development. Deepening friendly and cooperative relations with China is the consensus of the whole Serbian society. The Serbian side will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China principle and is willing to deepen cooperation in various fields with the Chinese side under the framework of mechanisms such as the Belt and Road cooperation and Cooperation between China and the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC), strengthen coordination and cooperation in multilateral affairs, and jointly safeguard international fairness and justice. The SNS is willing to deepen exchanges of experience in party and state governance with the CPC, strengthen cooperation in cadre training and other aspects, and promote the development of relations between the two Parties and the two countries.
