Beijing, December 20th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation of French Parliament members led by Cédric Perrin, President of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Armed Forces Committee of French Senate.
Liu said, this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. President Xi Jinping successfully paid a state visit to France in May, engaging in long and high-level strategic communication with French President Emmanuel Macron. The visit provided strategic guidance for the healthy and stable development of China-France relations. Currently, the international landscape is fraught with changes and turbulence, with all sorts of global challenges continuing to emerge. All countries in the world must make a response together. Both China and France uphold an independent foreign policy and share similar ideas on many international issues. The two sides should further strengthen dialogue and cooperation, jointly lead the development of China-Europe relations, and work together to safeguard world peace and stability.
Perrin stated that this year holds special significance for France-China relations. The two countries have organized a series of events to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. France has consistently maintained a friendly stance towards China, a position that has not changed and will not change. Amid the complex and volatile international situation, the importance of France-China relations is accentuated even more prominently. The French side is willing to continuously strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side on regional and international affairs, and jointly contribute to the prosperity and progress of the world.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues such as the Ukraine crisis and the situation in the Middle East.
Ma Hui, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, attended the meeting.
