Beijing, June 26th – Ma Hui, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today on the afternoon with Spain’s State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs Martinez.
Ma positively evaluated bilateral relations, stating that the Chinese side is willing to work with Spain to fully implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, stay committed to the direction of friendship, mutual trust, and cooperation, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation between political parties, to help make China-Spain relationship more strategically important. Ma also addressed the European Union's plan to impose additional duties on imports of Chinese electric vehicles, and elaborated on China’s position on issues such as the Ukraine crisis.
Martinez highlighted the frequent high-level exchanges between the two countries, saying both countries have made fruitful results in cooperation in economy, trade, culture, and tourism, and constantly deepened friendship. Spain is willing to maintain communication and dialogue with the Chinese side and strengthen coordination on addressing global challenges and international and regional hotspot issues.
