Beijing, January 9th —Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended here today on the morning upon invitation the first meeting of the fourth assembly and the first meeting of the fourth council of Beijing NGO Network for International Exchanges. Wei Xiaodong, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Chairman of the CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee; Xia Linmao, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Beijing; and Cui Shuqiang, Deputy Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group of the CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Beijing Municipal Committee and President of the fourth council of the Beijing NGO Network and others attended and addressed the function. 

In his speech, Lu combined the implementation of President Xi Jinping's important speech spirit on people-to-people diplomacy and the spirit of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and put forward suggestions on giving full play to the advantages of Beijing as the capital under the new situation, supporting social organizations in “going global”, and creating a new situation for international exchanges and cooperation among social organizations. Lu encouraged social organizations in Beijing to actively participate in international exchanges and cooperation, and blaze a path of people-to-people diplomacy that reflects features of the times, Chinese characteristics and Beijing's characteristics.
