Beijing, August 28th—Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with representatives of sinologists and young scholars from the United States, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, India and other countries.
Lu spoke positively of the important role played by sinologists and relevant young scholars in promoting dialogue between Chinese and other civilizations. He said, it is hoped that sinologists and young scholars will further deepen their understanding of China, strengthen sinology research and academic exchanges, and contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and people of other countries. He also welcomed them to actively participate in activities organized by the IDCPC and the Chinese Association for International Understanding.
The representatives of sinologists and foreign young scholars expressed the willingness to promote the development of sinology in the new situation and actively play the role of a bridge and link to introduce a true, three-dimensional and comprehensive China to their countries and the international community, and enhance mutual understanding and friendship between China and people of other countries.
Lu also had in-depth exchanges of views with the foreign guests on the contemporary significance of sinology research, research methods and people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
